I have a fascination for Japanese folding screens - I love the landscapes depicted on them, the movement, the fine detail, the grandeur of their presence. they become the center focus of whatever room in which they are placed. These gold leaf panels are inspired by Japanese screens - the contrast in texture is played up with the use of sand and straw - and call for a return to nature and our surroundings.
