Every artist dreams of living and painting in Florence. Every building has a history, every street a story, every piazza an inspiration… I spent three months in absolute awe surrounded by beauty indescribable in words. I was in the midst of artists and art lovers feeding ideas, techniques, and concepts off each other. Hours were spent discussing the old masters, their work, and traditional painting techniques. In this series I was taught to prepare my canvases as was done during the Renaissance with rabbit skin glue and gesso powder preparing a traditional base for my very modern paintings.
